Happy New Year with a new way to play!

Happy New Year and thank you for standing by us through these trying times. We don’t need to list 2020 frustrations, well, because you know them all. We are looking forward to being able to have a full table at game night again!  Onto to bigger and better things, 2021, and what we’ve been working on, and man, have we been working!

Happy New Year and thank you for standing by us through these trying times. We don’t need to list 2020 frustrations, well, because you know them all. Hardware Update

The Good: We are so excited to have our developer boards nearing completion. Even with all the complicated covid delays and the upcoming Chinese New Year, we can’t wait to show you more photos and videos of the Gameboard and games in action later this month.

The Bad: Not being near our manufacturing partners in China is proving to be a logistical hurdle.  We are able to rely on our amazing partners at HAX/SOSV and still plan on delivering on time, but the challenges never cease!  (Hey, if it were easy, someone would have done this long ago.)

The Great: Our Reservation backers get their boards at the Kickstarter pricing, even though our regular MSRP later down the line will be higher.  We hope this shows just a bit of our adoration for you and your faith in us.  To our Pre-Order backers, you will get your hands on the very first Gameboards, serialized as per your Kickstarter tier.

Software Update

Our development of the Gameboard Operating System (GOS) is in full swing.  We are leveraging the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and already have some very unique enhancements that lend themselves to our directionally agnostic board approach.

We have also been steadily making progress on our private screen technology and will be deploying details in our Software Development Kit this month.  We are so happy that our vision of one App to rule all devices is here!  In the video below, Fernando is demonstrating the local network gaming logic between a tablet and two smartphones.  While basic, this is the underlying framework for how private devices (PCs, Tablets, Smartphones, etc.) interact with the Gameboard (think digital dice, character sheets, joystick controllers, etc.).

Website Relaunch

We will be launching our new website next week along with some great ways for our Reservation backers to secure their Gameboard at Kickstarter prices, as well as ways for our full pre-order backers to secure even more benefits through our referral program.

UX Update

Jennifer and Yao have been hard at work wire-framing and working through the User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) on Gameboard.  We will be doing some in-house user testing in Boulder later this month with some of you (thank you!).  We can’t wait to get your feedback and continue to iterate and ensure Gameboard is as intuitive as possible while maintaining the critical elements of what brings us to tabletop games.

As always, we sincerely thank you for your continued support and look forward to your continued partnership!
